Go into any bookshop and you will see books galore about how people achieve mastery over various disciplines such as business, entertainment, sports, education, leadership etc. Experts in their fields share their experiences in the hope that readers will be able to accomplish what they have achieved. These books are teaching how to model another's experience.

Years ago I studied NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) which is ultimately about learning the art of mastery through modelling. NLP teaches you how to study behaviour, thought patterns and beliefs. NLP also teaches how to model behaviour and beliefs of those who have attained mastery in a particcular field to achieve similar results, or even better. There are many personal development courses and seminars now teaching NLP techniques.

Many spiritual and religious teachings have the models they follow. For instance, Jesus is the Christian model.

The ultimate model is one's real Self that is always perfect. Why not let Self teach you how to be like Self. This is what I believe the spiritual path is about, to emulate Self so one can be like Self all the time.

The omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient Self is the only model I follow.
